The easternmost point of Long Island has had a bit of hipster invasion over the last few years, but breakfast here remains a classic experience. Start your day along with local fishermen, surfers, artists and and summering Manhattanites at these spots recommended by local chefs.
OLD SCHOOL | Anthony's Pancake House + John's Pancake House
Anthony's and John's are classic mainstays that are open year round. On the weekends in the summer expect long lines for their classic American diner-style breakfasts.
"John's and Anthony's are the dueling pancake houses in Montauk and right across from each other. Get a stack of whole wheat pancakes and an omelet. It is really good. Endless coffee is all I really need to make me happy."

BEACH | Ditch Witch
Jump start your morning with an iced mocha and a breakfast burrito at this local institution overlooking Montauk's famous surfing beach. During high season (summer) expect to wait in line for their tacos, quesadillas, and sandwiches.
"This is one of my favorite little snack spots. This coffee wagon is an icon at Ditch Plains beach, the popular surfing spot. When I go surfing, I get a cup of coffee here in the morning. You can also have lunch here. They make quesadillas and tacos right in the wagon on the sand. It’s very popular and there can be a 40-minute line all day long in the summer."

BAGELS | Goldberg's
They've been making bagels since 1949 and continue to supply breakfast to the early risers, including many local fishermen.
"They are a bit of a local institution out this way on Long Island. They have great bagels. Grab a coffee and an early morning bagel if you are not up for the healthy fix of Joni’s."

Naturally Good Foods offers breakfast and lunch that are more bikini-friendly. Recover from the night before with coffee, tea, breakfast sandwiches, or smoothies. Both have outdoor seating for enjoying the weather.
"For breakfast, I would definitely hit up Joni’s. Healthy, fresh, and clean. Really good after a big night out or if you want to get up and go for a surf or hit the beach. It is a great way to start the day with lots of healthy options."

"For breakfast in Montauk, I like to come to Naturally Good on Main Street. Everything is organic and they have juices, smoothies, local eggs and great healthy dishes. Very local vibe and they are open year round which attracts the locals for sure."

"I get my smoothie in the morning at Naturally Good Foods. Everything here is super fresh and delicious. The bottom line is that that is what I look for in the morning. A place where I can get something nice and light to eat and get me through the day."

AT THE DOCK | Salivar's
An old school restaurant recently acquired by the Clam and Chowder House at Westlake Marina. For lunch and dinner, it's all about the raw oysters, sushi, fish sandwiches and burgers, but grab breakfast here for classic egg sandwiches, pancakes, oatmeal, and the Hook, Line, & Sinker, which is a bacon cheeseburger atop a hash brown with one over easy egg on top.
"It is so good, because the food they serve is based on the environment they are in and they stick to their roots."

MEXICAN | The Hideaway
Located in Diamond Cove Marina, this is where the locals head for authentic Mexican food. Their hours change seasonally, but in the summer you can sit overlooking the harbor and enjoy a Mexican breakfast.
"It’s down at the docks, tucked back off the road and you enter through a boatyard. It very much speaks to what the locals do here in that they are slightly removed from the chaos of the vacationers."
