Atlanta may be the city where chef Ford Fry became known for his popular portfolio of restaurants ( Jct. Kitchen, No. 246, The Optimist and Oyster Bar, and King + Duke, St. Cecilia), but it's Houston where he spent his formative years. In 2015, he opened his first restaurant in the area just blocks from where he went to high school. Called State of Grace, it is located in the classic, refurbished Lamar-River Oaks Shopping Center. Bobby Matos is the executive chef and creates a mix of Southern, American, Latin, Gulf Coast, German, and Asian influenced cuisines.
