Their name 'bún-ker' is a play on words, referring to the Vietnamese vermicelli noodles bún. Chef Jimmy Tu worked at Eleven Madison Park before opening up this Asian street food restaurant.
"This is a Vietnamese restaurant in an industrial part of Ridgewood, right past Bushwick and the infamous Pumps. This is my new favorite restaurant in New York to take friends, dine alone or order takeout. And if it couldn't get any better, it's BYO! My favorite dishes include Bahn Xeo (crepe with shrimp, bacon, egg, bean sprouts), Cha Ca La Vong (crispy ginger turmeric flounder), Tom Thit Ram (caramelized wild shrimp, bacon, basil, rice), and Long Bean Salad with coconut flakes." - Restaurateur Kristof Zizka at Maison Premiere
"Quality produce, a fine dining trained chef, and maybe the best service in town. The menu changes all the time, but the curry (goat or chicken), the pork chop, the Pho, and that Tapioca dessert that keeps my son silent for about an hour, are all favorites. They make one of the best Pho Ga I've had. The broth takes a couple days to make and is so fragrant and perfumey. It's certainly a classic here at the 'Selection Massale Noodle Club' -- which is basically my partner Cory and I." - Wine Importer Guilhaume Gerard of Selection Massale
