Why Wynwood?
Brian Nasajon and I wanted to be in an up and coming part of town that was accessible to as many people as possible. Wynwood was an obvious choice for us.
The Bar
The aesthetic aspects of Beaker & Gray is a beautiful blend of rustic features and refined ones. The materials are brick, concrete, brass, marble, walnut, and reclaimed wood. There are two 12-foot long floor-to-ceiling windows that open all the way making the restaurant feel like a huge terrace, since the building is raised four fee off the ground. The bar area wraps around into a lounge with floor to ceiling windows that make up all the walls of the room -- it feels like you're standing outside, but the windows are closed. The bar and the kitchen have mirrored marble bar tops and face each other.
Signature Cocktails
For something refreshing, the Green House is a great balance of herbal, effervescent, and tart. The Nut Job is a great stirred cocktail that's a nutty twist on a Manhattan. Inside Outside In is a cocktail aged in a pineapple with a proprietary house blend of spices and served with a dehydrated pineapple wheel dusted with the same spices.
