Spike Mendelsohn

Chef and restaurateur Spike Mendelsohn has a number of restaurants in Washington, DC and recently opened his first Miami restaurant called Sunny's, located at The Hall hotel. Sunny's is named after Spike's grandfather with a play on words for the South Florida weather. Here Spike talks about Sunny's, Miami and gives you his guide for a full day on Miami Beach.

SUNNY'S IS: "all about beach bites by beach bums. It's a fast-casual concept with amazing ambiance. We have indoor and outdoor dining and also a beer garden area for people to relax and enjoy food inspired by surf beaches from around the world."

WHEN IN MIAMI, YOU MUST EAT: "Stone crabs because they are so limited, local and delicious."

MORNING | Breakfast

Roasters n' Toasters

Try to get the chef's table in the front for the banter that takes place between the owner and everyone else. Order the egg salad, a basket of bagels, chicken livers, eggs and pastrami and tall glass of Tropicana OJ and you have won at breakfast.

SHOPPING | Food & Markets

Coconut Grove Organic Market

The farmer's market in Coconut Grove is great. It's been around for about 20 years and they have such a great selection of fruits and veggies. This market also opens later and closes later which is great for those who are late-risers.
